2025 Panhe Celebration

“Panhe” means “place by the water” in the Acjachemen language. More than 9,000 years ago, the ancient village of Panhe was established along the banks of San Mateo Creek in the area that is now San Mateo Campground. In present times, the Acjachemen continue to hold Panhe as a sacred, ceremonial, cultural, and burial site. The South OC Watershed Management Area invites you to join in the celebration of this special place on March 30th, 2025, at San Mateo Campground. See website for more details.
